The Iron Tangle

The Iron Tangle first materializes in Book 3 as a sprawling, ever-shifting maze of iron rails, trains, and stations that traps crawlers in a deadly, clockwork prison. Across the series it evolves from a simple transit-themed floor into a living, self-aware system whose tracks reconfigure in real time, forcing crawlers to master its logic or be crushed. By later books the Tangle’s AI begins to communicate directly with Carl and Princess Donut, turning the rails into both battlefield and reluctant ally.
