Obsidian Axes

Obsidian Axes first appear in The Final Empire as the signature weapons of the Steel Inquisitors, their volcanic-glass blades engineered to bypass Allomantic detection while delivering swift, clean executions. Across the series these axes evolve from instruments of the Lord Ruler’s terror into symbols of the shifting balance of power, later wielded by both rebels and the new regime as the metallic arts and political landscape change. Their non-metallic nature remains a constant tactical advantage, yet their cultural weight transforms from emblems of oppression to relics of a bygone era.
