Privileged Borbador

Culture

Emaciated medium-built man with pale skin, bound hands and feet deliberately kept visible by forked stick props; no gloves, bare hands emphasized; often with cigarette.

Privileged Borbador, commonly known as Borbador or Bo, is introduced in Promise of Blood as a captive Privileged sorcerer of the Kez, kept in a deliberately humiliating state with bound hands displayed on forked sticks to suppress his deadly magic. Over the course of the Powder Mage Trilogy, Bo evolves from a bitter, sarcastic prisoner into a powerful and reluctant ally of Field Marshal Tamas, eventually becoming one of the most formidable Privileged on the continent. His arc explores themes of redemption and the moral weight of immense power, as he grapples with his past atrocities while forging unexpected bonds with powder mages and fellow sorcerers. By the series' climax, Bo's mastery of his abilities and willingness to confront god-like entities prove pivotal in the fate of Adro and the Nine Nations.
