Nikslaus's Carriage

vehiclenoble carriage

Ornate ducal carriage with velvet interior, matching wall coverings and heavy window curtains, converted into a mobile prison with heavy iron chains and manacles bolted directly to the floor. Exterior is fine lacquered wood with Kez noble markings. Interior becomes shot-through and splintered after combat, with a massive ragged hole where a Warden was blasted out.

Nikslaus's Carriage first appears in Promise of Blood as an opulent ducal vehicle belonging to the Kez Privileged Lord Nikslaus, its velvet-lined luxury swiftly repurposed by Field Marshal Tamas into a rolling prison for captured sorcery users. Heavy iron chains and manacles are bolted to its floor, turning the once-regal transport into a mobile cell for dangerous prisoners like the Warden Borbador. During the chaotic fighting in Adro, the carriage endures heavy combat damage—its lacquered exterior scarred, interior shot-through and splintered, and a massive hole torn where a Warden is explosively ejected—yet it continues to serve as a makeshift containment vessel. Across the trilogy it symbolizes the brutal pragmatism of Tamas's coup, its transformation from Kez status symbol to battered Adran war trophy mirroring the larger conflict's toll on both sides.
