Mercury
Mercury's cherubic face and rosy cheeks belie a petulant edge, like a spoiled child wrapped in golden curls. His small frame hums with entitled energy, drawing you in before you sense the sting.
Mercury debuts in Red Rising as a minor but memorable Gold antagonist whose brief encounter with Darrow establishes the brutal hierarchies of the Institute. Though his role remains confined to the first book, his swift defeat at Darrow's hands foreshadows the larger rebellion against Gold privilege. Across the series, Mercury functions less as a recurring character and more as an emblem of the casual cruelty that Darrow's revolution seeks to dismantle.
