The Sons of the Storm first appear in Golden Son as reckless daredevils from the lower Colors who ride tiny boats across towering ten-meter waves, embodying a raw, almost suicidal thrill-seeking culture that exists far beneath the notice of the ruling Golds. Across the later books their role quietly expands from mere background color into a symbol of the hidden, untamed underbelly of the Society—people who have learned to survive by embracing danger rather than bowing to hierarchy.
