Durin

Minor

His crowned image in the still water commands reverence, a bearded majesty whose gaze pierces like forged steel. You feel the weight of untold ages in his silent vigil, a king whose legacy echoes in stone.

Durin the Deathless, the eldest of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves, emerges in The Fellowship of the Ring as a legendary figure whose awakening at Mount Gundabad and founding of the great realm of Khazad-dûm (Moria) symbolize the pinnacle of Dwarven glory and endurance. His iconic reflection in the Mirrormere, crowned and gazing eternally, serves as a haunting emblem of antiquity and pride, glimpsed in Galadriel's mirror to underscore the Dwarves' ancient heritage amid their faded splendor. Though absent from later volumes, Durin's legacy looms over the series as the progenitor whose line's tragic fall to the Balrog foreshadows the perilous reclamation attempts by his descendants.

Physical Description

A majestic dwarven king of ancient renown, with a noble build and long flowing beard framing a stern, wise face. His head bears a gleaming crown, eyes deep and commanding even in reflection. Clad in regal robes over armored breadth, he radiates an imposing, timeless presence amid shadowed stone.
