Treebeard

Supporting

He looms like the forest given voice, his ancient gaze holding the weight of forgotten ages in depths shot with green fire. The air hums with earthy wisdom around him, his twiggy beard whispering secrets of root and leaf. There's a slow-burning fury in his stillness that stirs the soul to wonder.

Treebeard, the ancient Ent and eldest shepherd of Fangorn Forest, emerges in The Two Towers as a deliberate, timeless guardian roused from slumber by the hobbits Merry and Pippin. His encounter with these 'little folk' ignites the Ents' long-dormant fury against Saruman's deforestation, transforming him from patient observer to leader of a devastating march on Isengard. Though his role is confined to this pivotal moment, Treebeard's awakening symbolizes the elder world's slow but inexorable response to industrialization's threat, leaving an enduring mark on Middle-earth's fate.

Physical Description

Treebeard towers at least fourteen feet high, a very sturdy man-like yet troll-like figure with a tall head and hardly any neck, his body clad in green and grey bark-like hide. His long face bears a sweeping grey beard, bushy and twiggy at the roots, mossy at the ends, framing deep brown eyes shot with green light that can glow with inner fire. Gnarled branches form his arms, with smoother brown skin visible in places, ending in large hands; his massive feet each boast seven broad toes. He moves with long deliberate strides, knees bending little, exuding an ancient, patient presence rooted in the earth.
