The Morannon, known as the Black Gate of Mordor, stands as an impregnable iron barrier across the defile of Cirith Gorgor, first introduced in The Two Towers as a massive gate flanked by the ominous Teeth of Mordor towers guarding Sauron's realm. In The Return of the King, it evolves into a colossal fortress amid a desolate wasteland of slag hills and marshes, embodying silent watchfulness and overwhelming dread under a hazy red sun. It serves as the site of a desperate parley where Aragorn and the Captains of the West confront the Mouth of Sauron, only to witness its dramatic destruction by Sauron's own wrathful forces as the Ring is destroyed.
