A monstrous Warden bursts into Tamas's underground bunker beneath the House of Nobles. Tamas kills it in a brutal fight but loses his dog Pitlaugh. He confronts his council, declaring one a traitor.

Tamas hires Adamat to uncover the traitor. The event heightens paranoia and reveals the depth of infiltration by Kez agents and Wardens.
