Apollo Castle first surfaces in the inaugural volume of the Red Rising Saga with minimal elaboration, serving as an enigmatic backdrop amid the brutal hierarchy of the Institute. Across later books its role expands from a peripheral House stronghold into a contested strategic site whose capture and defense shape alliances and betrayals among the rising Golds. By the series' midpoint the castle has become a symbol of both ancient privilege and the violent upheaval Darrow's revolution brings to the Society's core institutions.
