Orthanc

unique_object

500-foot black gleaming rock tower like riven earth-bone; four piers merge into spear-sharp horned pinnacles; polished stone summit platform inscribed with strange signs; impossibly smooth hard surface.

Orthanc, the unyielding black tower of the Isengard ring, stands as an ancient, impenetrable bastion crafted by the Númenóreans, its 500-foot spire of polished stone defying siege and sorcery alike. In the cataclysmic clash of The Two Towers, it serves as Saruman's dark stronghold, from which he unleashes his orc legions and war machines upon Rohan, only to be shattered when the Ents flood the surrounding valley and crack its foundations. Though scarred and broken, Orthanc endures as a symbol of corrupted power, ultimately secured by the Ents and left under Treebeard's vigil, awaiting the King's judgment.
