Uruk-hai

creature

Tall muscular Orcs bred by Saruman, swart slant-eyed with thick legs, large hands, tireless loping stride.

The Uruk-hai emerge in The Two Towers as Saruman's pinnacle of Orcish engineering, towering over their brutish kin with superhuman endurance and disciplined ferocity, designed for relentless warfare against the Free Peoples. Bred in the shadowed pits of Isengard, these swart, slant-eyed warriors with thick limbs and tireless strides capture Merry and Pippin after the Fellowship's shattering, showcasing their superior speed and stamina by outpacing horses across Rohan. Though their campaign peaks in the apocalyptic Battle of the Hornburg, the Uruk-hai's annihilation marks Saruman's downfall, leaving no lasting evolution in subsequent volumes as the tide turns inexorably against the Shadow.
