The Spring Court Masks begin as an unbreakable curse in A Court of Thorns and Roses, magically fused to the faces of every Spring Court faerie and symbolizing Tamlin’s court’s imprisonment under Amarantha’s rule. Their removal at the novel’s climax marks the breaking of that curse and the restoration of the court’s freedom, transforming the masks from instruments of oppression into relics of a dark past. Across later books they reappear only as ceremonial or historical artifacts, underscoring the Spring Court’s shifting political fortunes and Tamlin’s personal decline.
