Shadow Servants first appear in A Court of Thorns and Roses as eerie, barely-visible humanoid figures clad in cobweb gowns, capable of phasing through walls to serve the Night Court’s High Lord. Their presence establishes the eerie, otherworldly atmosphere of the Court of Dreams and hints at deeper, more complex magics at work beneath the surface of Prythian’s politics. Across the series, these spectral attendants evolve from silent, almost decorative fixtures into subtle instruments of espionage, protection, and intimidation, their abilities expanding in tandem with the Night Court’s growing influence.
