He has the air of a practical man who would rather solve a problem than discuss it—until the problem becomes impossible to ignore. Behind his brisk impatience, exhaustion seems to shimmer like a strange green afterimage.

Privalov is a programmer whose ordinary habits—glasses, winter clothes, errands—persist even when the world around him slips into the uncanny. In the stories he is pushed into magical confusion and exhaustion, barking orders at doubles and reacting with furious, very human impatience to the absurdity around him. His encounters leave him bruised, spent, and still stubbornly engaged, a rational man trying to keep his footing in a reality that refuses to behave rationally.
Description
Privalov wears glasses and practical winter clothing when dressed to go outside, carrying himself with the unceremonious air of an ordinary working man. His exact build, hair, eye color, and facial features are not specified. In a more disheveled indoor state, one bare heel is bruised and a small bump marks his forehead. When exhausted, a pale green light seems to spread over him, an uncanny contrast to his otherwise everyday appearance.
