Jeremy’s face seems to have been worn down before its time, yet the expression it settles into is not weary but viciously amused. His mocking grin makes even silence feel like a threat, and leaves the impression of a man who has made cruelty part of his ordinary manner.

As Eldhouse’s armed associate, Jeremy is introduced through a cold, brutal manner and the grinning cruelty that marks him in others’ memories. He helps burn the settlement’s wreckage and becomes, for Drago and Rockwell, the image of a former tormentor whose malice had made him dreaded. At around fifty, he appears so prematurely worn that he resembles a frail old man, a jarring contrast to the weapon resting in his hands. The settlers eventually kill him, ending the violence he had inflicted on them.
Description
Jeremy is a sturdy adult man whose face looks prematurely aged, its lines and slackness suggesting someone far older than his roughly fifty years. The text gives no specific hair color, hairstyle, or eye color; his most vivid feature is a nasty, mocking grin that seems permanently fixed across his face. He is associated with practical, utilitarian clothing and armed field gear, though no precise outfit is described. His presence is harsh and unsettling, made memorable by the contrast between his worn appearance and his jeering expression.
