Kesha has the scruffy, endearing air of someone forever busy with a chore, his small frame lost in clothes much too large for him. There is warmth in his hairy hands and his good-natured face, even beneath the sniffly, rumpled impression he leaves.

Kesha is a young domovoi whose life in the house-spirit barracks is defined by work and practical kindness. He is first seen scrubbing a parquet floor with a toothbrush, dressed in ill-fitting clothes, and later proves willing to stand up for Privalov and help him through hidden passages. In his brief final glimpse, he has become a domovoi porter passing by an office door. His modest helpfulness gives the small, shaggy spirit a quietly memorable place in the story.
Description
Kesha is a very small, shaggy male domovoi, with a warm, hairy hand and a good-natured face. His clothes hang loosely on his slight frame: baggy brown-green cotton trousers, a dangling imitation-leather belt, and unpolished brass buttons. The overall effect is scruffy and plainly practical, as though the uniform was issued without regard for his size. His sniffly, industrious manner adds to his unassuming, kindly presence.
