He seems most at ease with maps, rules, and imagined worlds, though talking about the games he loves brings a shy warmth to his manner. There’s an appealing earnestness in the way he turns an idea into something he can draw by hand.

Vladimir Vasilyev appears as a fellow science-fiction writer, a friend whose enthusiasm for the game Warlord is too genuine to hide behind his embarrassment. At a seminar in Tiraspol, he draws maps on paper and searches for a computer to bring his ideas to life. Later, he turns up among the extras in a film shoot, bundled up against the cold even as the studio swelters.
Description
A young man with an unassuming, writerly presence; the text does not specify his height, build, complexion, hair, or eyes. His clothes are warmly layered, noticeably heavy for the hot film pavilion where he is later seen. When games come up, his expression has a bashful, slightly self-conscious cast, while his attention seems naturally drawn to the maps and plans he sketches.
