Rachel’s short, straight hair and simple blouse give her an unassuming first impression, but her glazed eyes and trembling stillness make the scene feel suddenly uneasy. She seems distant from herself, caught in a haze that is difficult to look at without concern.

Rachel appears briefly as a young woman in a drugged, vulnerable state, her eyes glazed and her body shivering. The novel gives her no broader history or developed arc, so she remains a troubling glimpse of the harm and exploitation surrounding the case.
Description
Rachel is a young woman with short, straight hair and a slight, otherwise unspecified build. She wears a blouse of thin fabric; her eyes are glazed with narcotic languor, and her body shivers. Her appearance is defined by a dazed, vulnerable stillness rather than by any further distinctive features.
