Ron Carmichael

Also known as Detective Carmichael

Ron Carmichael looks as though the day has already worn him down: rumpled, food-stained, and peering out through bloodshot eyes. There is an uncomfortable, faintly sour quality to his presence, sharpened by the effort in his weak chin and restless gaze.

Carmichael appears as a police detective whose shabby manner and dismissive instincts make him an uneasy presence in Harry’s investigation. He repeatedly treats Harry with skepticism, but the evidence and unfolding danger eventually force him to reckon with what Harry has been trying to tell him. He remains a practical, compromised ally rather than a convert to the supernatural world.

Description

Carmichael is short and overweight, with a balding head, rumpled hair, and beady eyes reddened from strain or lack of sleep. His weak chin and tired, pinched expression lend his face a distinctly unimposing look. He wears a rumpled jacket and a food-stained tie, carrying himself with the careless disarray of a man who has little patience for appearances.
