Mongo begins as a hostile level-1 velociraptor chick whose red aggro dot turns white then orange after Carl and Donut train him to hunt grubs, transforming him from a thrashing, biting threat into a loyal party member. Over subsequent floors he rapidly grows from a pink-feathered mastiff-sized raptor into a pony-tall, 13-foot-long feathered dinosaur with electrically charged golden fang caps, clockwork duplicates, and broad wings that span a truck bed. His combat role evolves from simple tail-chomping and wall-screeching to devastating sprint-and-leap attacks, mascot buffs, and duplicate-assisted strikes, while his excitable personality—rolling over for belly scratches and flapping in tight spaces—remains constant. By book 8 he is a beloved, fully integrated member of the crawler family whose joyful ferocity and protective instincts have made him a fan-favorite mascot of the Dungeon Crawl.
Physical Description
Mongo is a 7-inch tall juvenile velociraptor-like dinosaur with soft pink downy feathers covering his small, agile frame. He has two tiny forearms, a long serpentine tail, and a beaked mouth lined with sharp tiny teeth. His beady reptilian eyes dart alertly, occasionally sporting a small bow tie, exuding playful ferocity in every perch and pounce. A mastiff-sized velociraptor with a strong agile build stands covered in vibrant pink-hued deep-red and multicolored feathers that are long and thick along his small arms and extended tail.
