Mold Lion
creatureMale lion with pulsating green glowing mold covering half body (legs, chest, face); emerald-glowing eye; mane erupts in dozens waving pink/green worm tentacles.
The Mold Lion first emerges in Book 2 as a grotesque, fungal-hybrid predator whose emerald-glowing eye and writhing mane of pink-green tentacles mark it as one of the dungeon’s earliest bio-engineered horrors. Though it appears only once, its grotesque physiology foreshadows the escalating biological experimentation that later books reveal: the mold is not mere decoration but a parasitic symbiote capable of rapid mutation and host control. Subsequent volumes reference similar fungal outbreaks in deeper floors, suggesting the creature’s template was refined into larger, more intelligent strains that threaten entire safe zones.
