Brawndy Bearns begins as the elderly Duke of Bearns, past his fighting prime yet vital with steel-grey hair, beard, and ropy muscles. Mortally wounded in the chest during a fierce battle against Raiders, he dies with blood-tears on his cheeks, his alliance with FitzChivalry pivotal. His sacrifice galvanizes the Duchies' resistance, embodying noble duty in the Red-Ship wars.
