A wall of muscle and reek barrels toward you, his bearded face twisted in mindless hunger that chills the air. Those knotty forearms flex like twisted ropes, promising violence without a word. You feel the wrongness in his soulless stare, a void where humanity once lived.

The Forged Smith starts as a once-proud blacksmith twisted by the Forging plague unleashed by the Red-Ship Raiders, stripping away his empathy and turning him into a ravenous beast preying on Buckkeep's fringes. Encountered early by Fitz during a patrol, his massive frame and feral aggression mark him as a harbinger of the coastal horrors. He meets a brutal end at Fitz's hand—neck half-severed, belly spilled, thigh and groin stabbed—his death a grim lesson in the Wit-magic's corruption.
