Nik Holdfast enters as a loyal Buckkeep crewman, steadfast in his duties until a brutal fight leaves him battered with a swollen eye and bloody mouth. Though his role is brief, his holdfast spirit embodies the resilient folk of the Six Duchies, fading to mention as greater tides turn. He represents the everyday guardians who bolster Fitz's world amid Forged threats and royal intrigues.
