Magic system

Purely mental magic with no visible manifestations: invisible thought-sharing, muscle control, strength draining; feels like soft forehead tickle escalating to warm light and total mind-suffusing euphoria wave, addictive non-physical elation, strongest and most perilous when contacting Elderlings; training shows harsh ascetic regimen with barefoot scantily clad students rigid in poses on windy tower top, eyes rolled back closed, shivering blue-lipped, random quirt strikes; manifests as synchronized movements and exhaustion, no lights or mists.
