Mark Benson appears briefly as a young, bearded employee at Ana's publishing house, approaching her with ambitious energy during a work moment that stirs Christian's surveillance-fueled jealousy. His wild-eyed pitch for a photography project underscores the everyday rivals Christian perceives in Ana's world. Though minor, Mark embodies the innocuous threats that amplify Christian's possessive instincts early in the story.
