As chieftainess of the merpeople, Murcus speaks to Dumbledore in Mermish and gives the judges her account of what happened at the bottom of the lake. Her testimony makes her a direct witness to the second task, and her fierce authority lends weight to what she reports. She is a brief but vivid presence: a leader whose voice carries beyond her own people.
Description
Murcus is a wild-looking female merperson, with grayish skin and long, unruly dark-green hair framing yellow eyes and broken teeth. Her powerful silver fish tail is built for swift movement through the water, and ropes of pebbles and a spear suit her people’s rugged appearance. She carries herself with a ferocious, commanding presence that marks her as a chieftainess.
