Mermaid in the painting

Supporting
First seen · Book 4 · Ch. 24

Mermaid in the painting is a supporting character in Harry Potter (Book 4).

Gender: female
First appears: Book 4 · Ch. 24
Books: 1

The mermaid appears in a golden-framed painting, asleep on a rock with her long blonde hair covering her face. Her loud snoring makes her an unexpected, comic fixture in the scene. She remains a painted figure rather than an active participant in the story.

Description

The painted mermaid has long blonde hair that falls over and conceals her face as she sleeps on a rock. Her mermaid’s fins are visible, though their color and other details are not specified. The golden frame gives the portrait a bright, ornamental border, while her relaxed, snoring pose lends it an informal charm.
