The Builder begins the series as an enigmatic, world-shaping messenger whose departure is negotiated by Jason Asano, then reappears in Book 10 as a commanding supernatural force whose cultists still pursue his grand designs. By Book 11, the Builder is recast as a reluctant, uneasy ally whose cultists join Jason’s expedition, suggesting a pragmatic shift from cosmic adversary to provisional partner in restoring the throne. Across the two books, the Builder’s physical presence evolves from an abstract, otherworldly figure to a tangible, rugged stonemason whose tools and appearance underscore his role as cosmic craftsman.
