Emresh feels like a man trying to make himself smaller than the trouble around him. There is a brittle unease to that impression, as though caution has begun to look uncomfortably like fear.

Emresh Vohl, Valk's brother, once went looking for trouble at Bellory's tavern, but when danger came to the city he sheltered in a bunker rather than defend it. He later fled and hid his identity in a displacement camp. His brief appearance leaves a sharp contrast between the boldness that brought him into conflict and the fear that finally shaped his choices.
