Jason’s mother receives his recordings from home and remains part of the family he addresses across the distance. After the betrayal involving his brother and former partner, she told him to shut up and take it like a man, a response that reveals the hard edges of their family dynamic. Jason later speaks to her about Cassandra in deliberately casual terms, describing them as “seeing each other socially.”
