Pochard Finn begins the series as the curt, efficient deputy director of Greenstone’s Magic Society, quietly wielding institutional power while his superior, Lucian Lamprey, operates from the Fortress. By Book 11 he has become a fugitive operative whose guarded, human disguise conceals both his true identity and the false-skin covering that hides his complicity in Lucian’s crimes. Once the gatekeeper who granted Clive Standish leave to pursue a thief, he is now the target of that same former colleague, who leads a heist to seize the archive code Pochard protects. His fall from bureaucratic authority to hunted accomplice underscores the series’ theme that institutional corruption eventually collapses under the weight of its own secrets.

Description

Pochard is an elven man whose most clearly noted visual markers are expensive clothes and a brooch bearing the Magic Society emblem. His age, build, complexion, hair, eyes, and facial features are not described. He is often presented with a reserved, businesslike air, focused on his work. A human man with a discreet, guarded bearing, dressed in a practical shirt. His face, hair, build, and other features are not established by the available text, so keep them visually restrained rather than distinctive. Beneath his shirt is a false-skin covering over his abdomen, a removable disguise he can peel away.
