The Amotus Training Armour begins as a rudimentary wooden-and-steel sparring rig in The Will of the Many, designed to let trainees practice Will-locking through triangular stone tiles. Across the series it is repeatedly upgraded—first with lighter alloys, then with rune-etched plates that feed combat data directly into the Hierarchy’s archives—until, by the later books, the armour becomes an autonomous sparring partner capable of simulating entire battle scenarios. Its evolution mirrors the protagonists’ own growth: what starts as simple restraint technology gradually transforms into a sophisticated training intelligence that both nurtures and tests the next generation of Catenan elites.
