Enkar'al appears in Deadhouse Gates as a massive reptilian predator whose aerial assault on fleeing refugees marks one of the novel's most harrowing set-pieces. Wounded yet unrelenting, the creature is finally brought down by Kalam and a cadre of marines, ending its reign of terror over the Chain of Dogs. Beyond this single, visceral encounter, the beast leaves no further trace in the series, its brief but memorable rampage serving as a grim reminder of the lethal fauna that stalks the Seven Cities.
Description
A massive reptilian creature with wings spanning ten paces across, its scales shimmering yellow in the daylight. Its long head is filled with rows of fangs, while razor claws and taloned limbs mark it as a predator designed for aerial hunting. When it hovers, its beating wings create thunderous sound.
