The Peasant Army Camp first appears in Deadhouse Gates as the makeshift encampment of the Wickan and peasant forces under Coltaine’s command during the Chain of Dogs. Over the course of the march from Hissar to Aren, the camp transforms from a disorganized refugee column into a hardened, mobile fighting force that repeatedly repels attacks from the pursuing Apocalypse. By the time the remnants reach the gates of Aren, the camp has become a symbol of desperate resistance and the cost of imperial loyalty.
