The Tithan Horsewarriors first appear as elusive desert raiders in Deadhouse Gates, striking from the sands with fire and speed. Across the series they evolve from peripheral skirmishers into disciplined cavalry contingents that fight on behalf of larger imperial causes, their tactics and allegiances shifting with the fortunes of Seven Cities. By the later books they are no longer faceless tribal horsemen but named units whose banners are recognized on distant battlefields, their culture and military role irrevocably altered by the Whirlwind rebellion and its aftermath.
