Keep Hasting begins as a minor noble house stronghold in the Final Empire, largely operating in the shadows of more prominent Great Houses. By the time of The Well of Ascension, the keep has been abandoned following the Collapse, its once-guarded halls now serving as a strategic refuge and battleground for the fledgling New Empire. Its evolution mirrors the broader upheaval of Scadrial—shifting from a symbol of noble privilege to a contested ruin whose empty corridors echo the fall of the old order.
