Set's Explosive Traps debut in The Lost Metal as sophisticated clay-grenade devices that mark the first widespread use of modern chemical explosives in the Mistborn saga. Initially concealed in civilian apartments, these tripwire- and pressure-plate-triggered munitions represent the Set's shift from Allomantic weaponry to industrial-grade ordnance. Their appearance signals a technological arms race that forces Waxillium Ladrian and his allies to confront an enemy no longer bound by the old rules of magic.
