Sofi first appears in the eighth book of the Murderbot Diaries series, Platform Decay, as a juvenile human girl living on Preservation Station. She is the daughter of Dr. Mensah and her partner Farai, and her resemblance to her mother is immediately apparent. Though her presence is brief, Sofi represents the next generation of Preservation Station inhabitants and the continuation of Dr. Mensah's family life beyond her professional duties. Her introduction marks a shift in the series' focus from purely corporate and security concerns to the personal, domestic sphere of the characters' lives.
