The Pathfinders are a mysterious, ancient alien species whose artifacts and ruins become increasingly central to the plot as the series progresses. Initially introduced as enigmatic builders of long-abandoned structures, their technology and history are gradually revealed to be deeply intertwined with the fate of both humans and constructs like Murderbot. Across the books, the Pathfinders evolve from background lore into a pivotal force whose legacy shapes the political and existential stakes of the narrative.
