Sum Total enters the series as a utilitarian support ship in the Preservation fleet, distinguished by its modular docking systems and oversized shuttles designed for large-scale planetary evacuations. Throughout System Collapse, it transitions from a background logistical asset to a critical evacuation platform when the crew must extract endangered colonists from a collapsing corporate installation. Its role underscores the fleet's shift from exploration to humanitarian intervention, highlighting how even secondary vessels become indispensable when lives hang in the balance.
