Powder Mage Trilogy · Character
Palagyi

His round belly and stick-like limbs create an almost comical silhouette, yet the nervous glint behind those round spectacles suggests a man who profits from others' desperation. One senses the oily charm of a predator who feels safest when others owe him something.

Palagyi began as a ruthless loan shark and criminal figure in the underworld of Adro, his oddly proportioned frame and nervous demeanor belying a dangerous cunning. His story culminated in betrayal and death, first struck on the shoulder with a cane before being strangled purple-faced by his own henchman in a grim twist of fate. From antagonist preying on the vulnerable to a victim of his own web of violence, he embodied the corrupt underbelly that the powder mages sought to purge.
Description
An oddly proportioned man with a prominent round belly that hangs far over his belt, contrasted by thin arms and legs like saplings, giving him the look of a cannonball on sticks. He has chubby cheeks, a thin nose, and wears round spectacles that rest more on his plump cheeks than his nose. Richly dressed in a gray overcoat over a sharp black waistcoat with well-shined shoes. His presence is one of nervous calculation mixed with the smug assurance of a man used to controlling situations through debt and intimidation.
