Teef
MinorThe barber carries the copper smell of blood with him like cologne, his sickly lean frame draped in a crimson-stained apron. There's violence in the casual way he snaps open his razor, a street predator wearing the clothes of a surgeon. One wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley or a brightly lit one.
Teef is introduced in Promise of Blood as the blood-spattered leader of the Black Street Barbers, a ruthless Adran street gang whose violent methods embody the chaotic underbelly of the coup against the monarchy. Operating as a brutal enforcer and interrogator, he is quickly captured after a botched job leaves him with a broken finger and wrist, landing him in Sabletooth prison where his revolutionary zeal is sidelined. Across the Powder Mage Trilogy, Teef remains a minor but emblematic figure of the gritty street-level fallout from Field Marshal Tamas's powder-fueled revolution, his arc highlighting how the new regime consumes or imprisons even its most vicious supporters. Though he does not reappear prominently in later books, his early presence foreshadows the ongoing tension between idealistic reform and the savage realities of power in Adro.
