The Eunuch

Supporting

The Eunuch glides through rooms like an eel through still water, his bald head gleaming and his soft, flabby form draped in flowing robes. There's an unsettling sweetness to his high-pitched voice and the scent of southern spices that follows him. His watchful eyes miss nothing, making one wonder what calculations hide behind that peculiar, childlike tone.

In the Powder Mage Trilogy, The Eunuch serves as the enigmatic representative of the Proprietor, a powerful and shadowy figure in Adro's underworld and political intrigues. Introduced in Promise of Blood as a bald, reddish-skinned Gurlan with a deceptively soft build, high-pitched voice, and eel-like grace, he observes the chaos of the coup and subsequent power struggles with unsettling calm, often sipping chilled water and smoking his pipe while alliances fracture around him. His sharp mind and neutral demeanor position him as a constant wildcard, neither fully ally nor enemy to Field Marshal Tamas and his allies, hinting at deeper loyalties to his mysterious master that could influence the fate of nations. Though his full evolution remains veiled in the first book, his presence underscores themes of hidden power and calculated observation amid revolutionary turmoil.

Physical Description

The Eunuch is a big, pudgy man with reddish-tinted skin, a completely shaved bald head, and no facial hair whatsoever. His flabby face and soft body have a distinctly feminine quality, with rounded features that give him an unusual appearance. He wears a long-armed one-piece robe and carries the heavy scent of southern spices. His movements are graceful and eel-like despite his bulk, and his presence is both demure and deeply observant.
