Bryn was the beautiful woman Fitchner met on Triton, a young woman who had lost a leg. Her name surfaces again in connection with the violence of the Board of Quality Control, which killed her after she was gassed with achlys-9. Though she is known only through brief recollections, Fitchner’s description makes her loss feel deeply personal.
Description
Bryn is 22 and remembered by Fitchner as the most beautiful woman he ever met, though the text does not specify her complexion, hair, eyes, facial features, or build. She has lost a leg, the one concrete detail that shapes her silhouette. Her clothing and any prosthetic are not described, so those details should remain unspecified; what comes through is the force of her beauty in another person’s memory.
