Lucian has the fragile, watchful air of someone trying not to take up space: a timid smile, lowered eyes, and shoulders held in a quiet slump. There is something tenderly human in the way a simple question can bring color to his face.

Lucian is introduced in Red Rising as a seemingly innocuous, timid boy whose brief encounter with Darrow masks a far more sinister identity. In truth, Lucian is a fabricated persona employed by the Jackal to infiltrate Jupiter Castle, turning what appears to be a shy, open-hearted youth into a calculated deception. Across the series, Lucian remains a one-book construct, yet his false presence underscores the pervasive layers of betrayal and the Jackal’s ruthless cunning that reverberate through later installments.
Description
Lucian is a slim boy of middling height, with a hungry look and slumped shoulders. His blond hair is clipped plainly but appears dirty, and his eyes are teary and seldom meet Darrow’s. His thin hands look useful, and a ring of Jupiter barely fits one finger. Timid smiles and an easily rising blush lend him a vulnerable, gentle presence.
