The Sovereign’s father once ruled the Society, but the novel gives no account of his reign or personal character. His daughter Octavia took power after beheading him for violating the Compact, and his death becomes a defining precedent in conversations about sovereignty and ambition. He remains a historical presence rather than an active character.
Description
The novel provides no visual description of the former Sovereign. His face, coloring, build, age, hair, and clothing are all unspecified. Any faithful depiction should avoid inventing details and may represent him only as a distant imperial silhouette.
