Sungrave emerges in the later volumes of the Red Rising Saga as a pivotal fortress-city on Mercury, its evolution mirroring the escalating stakes of the Solar War. Initially a symbol of Gold dominion and industrial might, it transforms into a contested battleground where Darrow’s forces clash with Atalantia’s legions, its fate becoming intertwined with the broader struggle for the Rim and Core. By the time of Light Bringer, Sungrave’s fall and recapture underscore the saga’s themes of sacrifice and shifting alliances, marking it as both a strategic prize and a crucible for the characters’ moral reckonings.
